The light bulb... it's been around as long as one can recall; everyone seems to be switching to CF-B's these days (compact fluorescent-bulbs) ...let me tell you a little more about fluorescent light...it's bad for your eyes when looked at directly, period. Yes, they do save (a near insignificant amount of) energy; so I use CF-B's in areas that don't harm the eyes with their direct rays, e.g. the light over the stove...having fluorescent light 'beaming' where children are able to stare into them. So, for children's sake at least...safety first in the home.
